Summer at CMC is a time for the outdoors, fun, and music!
We are proud to announce our inaugural sleep-away intensive program. Students will spend two weeks exploring chamber music, orchestra, and fine tuning their solo craft on the Lake George campus of the Silver Bay YMCA in the Adirondack Mountains.
-
Daily chamber music coachings
CMC Chamber Music groups are formed by level and age. Past summers have included Mendelssohn Trios, Brahms Trios, Mozart Quartets, Shostakovich Quintet, Beethoven Quartets and more.
-
Daily orchestra rehearsals
Orchestra repertoire in past summers have included Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings, Bartok Roumanian Dances, Shostakovich Chamber Symphony Opus 110, Holst Mars, Bringer of War and Marquez Danzon No. 2.
-
Solo Study
Alongside chamber music study, students will receive conservatory style training in solo repertoire from CMC’s world class faculty. Private lessons and studio classes provide opportunities for students to work on their complete musical selves.
-
Performances at Silver Bay
The intensive will culminate in a chamber music and orchestra extravaganza in the national history registry’s Auditorium at Silver Bay. Students also have the opportunity to perform solo repertoire in the beautiful Chapel.
-
Masterclasses from world-renowned guest artists
Past CMC summer masterclasses were given by Craig Richey, Fred Sherry, Jesse Mills, Aizuri Quartet, and Kristen Lee and Arnaud Sussman from Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Students also participated in the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra at Lincoln Center.

Recreational afternoon activities
The Silver Bay YMCA is a full service, fully equipped, fully operational fun station. CMC students will benefit from dozens of available activities indoors and outdoors, on land and in the water, arts and sports, reading and exercise - you name it, we have it!
