Summer Intensive

Summer is a time for the outdoors, fun, and music! CMC offers a three-week intensive packed full of music, camaraderie, outdoor activities and multiple performing opportunities. Field trips to summer festivals complete the intense and exciting three weeks. Stay tuned for our plans for Summer 2025.

Summer Intensive Students Experience:

  • Young string players during chamber music group coaching session with instructor.

    Daily chamber music coachings

    Chamber Music groups are formed by level and age. Past summers have included Mendelssohn Trios, Brahms Trios, Mozart Quartets, Shostakovich Quintet, Beethoven Quartets and more.

  • Young musicians practicing instruments with an orchestra instructor.

    Daily orchestra rehearsals

    Past summers have included Tchaikovsky Serenade for Strings, Bartok Roumanian Dances, Shostakovich Chamber Symphony Opus 110, Holst Mars, Bringer of War and Marquez Danzon No. 2.

    Masterclasses from world-renowned guest artists

    Past summer masterclasses were given by Ashley Horne, Fred Sherry, Jesse Mills, Aizuri Quartet, and Kristen Lee and Arnaud Sussman from Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. Students also participated in the Mostly Mozart Festival Orchestra at Lincoln Center.

    Multiple performances throughout New York City area

    Past Summer locations have included: Lincoln Center Re-Start Stages, Riverside Church Theater, Redeemer Church, Riverside Park, Engelman Hall at Baruch College, Marcus Garvey Park Amphitheater, Winter Garden at Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital, Estherwood Mansion, Masters School Auditorium, and The Jewish Home and Hospital.

    Trips to concerts and festivals

    Past summers have included all-day workshops at the Caramoor Music Festival, Masterclass and Concerts at Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Bryant Park with The Knights, Bargemusic Concert, Naumburg Bandshell concerts in Central Park by Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.

    Recreational afternoon activities

    Including athletic fields for soccer and frisbee, an olympic size pool, and ping-pong and foosball.
