About Our Programs
Addressing the complete musican:
-
OUR RECOMMENDED APPROACH
We encourage students to sign up for Chamber Music and Orchestra as the benefits of belonging to both encourage musical growth and a more integrated social experience. Pianists may be asked to play in the percussion section when needed.
-
YOUTH/TEEN CHAMBER MUSIC
Chamber music provides an opportunity for individual musical advancement as well as group communication and camaraderie. All CMC Chamber Music groups are expertly formed according to level and age and meet on Saturday afternoons for a one hour coaching. Several performances are scheduled throughout the year, culminating in the Season Finale at Carnegie Hall.
-
YOUTH/TEEN ORCHESTRA
CMC Orchestras meet on Saturday afternoons (timed so that students can participate in both chamber music and orchestra). Performance opportunities include two formal concerts per year as well as concerts during the Holiday Season, special workshops and run-out concerts.
-
SOLOS AND THEORY
As add-ons, we offer SOLOS and Theory. SOLOS provides an opportunity for students to perform solo pieces in a supportive performance environment. Theory provides a deeper understanding of music and allows each student to learn music with greater ease and speed. Our program uses the Royal Conservatory of Music Theory Series, which is a graded program by RCM. Theory meets online Saturday mornings. For information on Theory and to sign up, please contact Raina Arnett.
